Helping out the ‘little guy’. TennTrips offers FREE listings for tourism related businesses in the South. Our free listings allows us to provide visitors with more information than the big sites. I’ve always been the type to take the back roads when possible. Small state highways are where you find the fun! Growing up in the ’60s vacations didn’t include a lot of Interstate Highway travel (there weren’t many back then). Every small town had some sort of attraction, even if it was just a diner with a giant statue of an astronaut outside.
While planning a trip a few years ago, I did several web searches trying to find things to do along the way. All I could find were the ‘big guys’ in the major towns. Slightly discouraged, I went on my trip and took the back roads anyway.
While on my trip, I found several small places that still existed that SHOULD have been listed somewhere.
Problem:
The ‘mom and pop’ places (usually the most interesting places to visit), are hardly ever found. Advertising a business is expensive, and can make or break a small attraction.
Solution:
Let them advertise for FREE! Now, they have a way to get found, and visitors can plan a more FUN vacation!
I started a site (originally just for Tennessee) I called ‘Tennessee Backroads Travellers’ back in about 1997. Started as a hobby, it wasn’t long before I found myself getting a ‘dot com’ and renaming it to TennTrips. I entered every listing on each page by hand, learning as I went.
I’m still learning, and though I’ve made several changes, all my entries are STILL hand edited, and FREE. I’m adding more states to include all of the GREAT SOUTH.
Not only do I have the ‘little guys’ but the ‘big guys’ can get listed too. I provide weather information and hotel reservation services (had to pay the cost somehow).
If you’re looking for those quaint little stops along the way, or you have a place that visitors to your area would find interesting, stop by TennTrips!
